About me
russell m. hartley
I have over seven years of professional communications and marketing experience working with nonprofits and various government agencies. My most recent experience has been in a communications role for the digital inclusion nonprofit Everyone On, and I previously worked on small business development to connect free small business relief and resources to communities across Michigan, particularly in under-resourced areas.
Prior to my work with nonprofits, I held communications positions at state- and city-level government agencies in California and Texas. I recently served as communications director in the California State Assembly where I worked on legislation relating to social justice, gun reform, civic engagement and access to higher education. I recently obtained my Master of Science (M.S.) in Communication from Grand Valley State University which is where I obtained my B.A. in Health Communication.
I am passionate about researching U.S. politics and political communication across emerging technologies. I consider myself well-rounded in digital content development, social media, and messaging.
